I Murder So That I May Come Back

"I Murder So That I May Come Back"
32 page zine, Published by Kiddiepunk, 2012

“We always imagine eternity as something beyond our conception, something vast, vast! But why must it be vast? Instead of all that, what if it's one little room, like a bath-house in the country, black and grimy and spiders in every corner, and that's all eternity is? I sometimes fancy it like that.”

These words from Dostoyevsky appear in the opening pages of artist O.B. De Alessi's new Kiddiepunk publication, "I Murder So That I May Come Back" and go a long way towards establishing a tone for the images and narrative that follows. "The idea for this zine came quite quickly while I was having a conversation about serial killers", says De Alessi. "At the time, I had been thinking a lot about a sense of guilt, the weight of guilt, and the way evil and innocence can co-exist within one person, and this brought my focus to children serial killers. I read about a couple of cases and took some inspiration, but I mostly wanted to create a story of my own, that could summon a mood of heaviness and isolation." This haunting 32 page, risograph-printed zine is available in a limited edition of 50 copies. All copies also come with a special print, signed and numbered by the artist.
